Obituary of Douglas Reardon
Mr. Douglas K. "Doug" Reardon, Sr., 64, of Herkimer, husband of Joyce (Waterbury) Reardon, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, December 28, 2003, after a heroic battle with his illness. His passing occurred in the Palliative Care Unit of Valley Health Services, where he was receiving tremendous care. Doug was born on March 25, 1939 in Ilion, a son of the late Cornelius Reardon and Alicia (Howe) Reardon who resides in Herkimer. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On May 5, 1962, he was joined in marriage with the former Joyce Waterbury at St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Doug proudly served his country with enlisting with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was last employed with Chicago Pneumatic, retiring in 1996 after several years of loyal service. Following his retirment he was employed by the Department of Enviromental Conservation in Herkimer. Doug will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was a caring family man always putting the needs of his loved ones first. His gentle and humble disposition gained him many friendships. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his mother Alicia of Herkimer, his wife Joyce of Herkimer, three sons, 1st Sgt. Edward Reardon and wife Barb of Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri, Douglas Reardon, Jr. of Rome, and Eric Reardon and wife Kathy of Belews Creek, NC, three brothers and three sisters in law, Francis and Helen Reardon of Florida, Mark and Cindy Reardon of Clearwater, FL, and Patrick and Barbara Reardon of Roy, Utah, a sister and brother in law, Connie and Dave Gage of Mohawk, five grandchildren, Mark, Danielle and Kyle Reardon and Liam and Glenn Reardon, an aunt, Mary Howe of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and William Reardon. The family invites relatives and friends to pay their respects at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. Doug's funeral will commence at 9 am on Wednesday, Dec. 31, from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, Herkimer with the Very Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor of the Annunciation Church, Ilion, officiating. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where Doug will be laid to rest.
