Obituary of Ella Sciarra

1911-2003 Mrs. Ella H. Sciarra, of 105 Protection Ave., a longtime Herkimer resident, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2003 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on May 29, 1911 in Vienna, Austria a daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Schiller) Schimek and was educated in Herkimer schools. In 1934, she was united in marriage to the late Joseph J. Sciarra, Sr. in New York City. Their union of 56 years was hallmarked with the love and dedication they shared with one another. Mr. Sciarra passed away on August 1, 1990. She was last employed with the former Little Frocks Dress Shop in Little Falls. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. Ella was a member of the ILGWU and the Town of Herkimer Senior Citizens. She leaves two sons, Joseph J. and Joanne Sciarra, Jr. of Wellington, Fla., and Robert T. Sciarra of Holly Spring, NC., a daughter, Susan P. Murphy and husband Terry of Waterville, Maine, a brother Leo "Bob" Schimek and wife Emilia of De Bary, FL, a sister Margaret Fournier and husband Joseph of Payrump, NV, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, December 12, 2003 from 3- 6p.m. Ella's funeral will commence at 9 am on Saturday, December 13, 2003 from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home and at 9:30 from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care., Inc or to a favorite charity. By family request, the ILGWU and town of Herkimer Senior Citizens are asked to gather together at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home on Friday at 5 p.m. to conduct services.
