Along with Harry Enea Sr. and the Cumm brothers, he was instrumental in starting the first Veteran of Foreign Wars club in the old box factory on North Main Street, Herkimer. He also was the catalyst for procuring the old Tuger School for the housing of the current Herkimer Senior Citizen Center. He was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. He spent a lifetime traveling to be with his family, where he was the happiest, especially when surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by Vincent Robert, his infant son, and is survived by his wife Mary, along with his two daughters and sons-in-law, Georgiann and Alfred Calafrancesco of Gloversville and Gloria Jean and John Lasher of Warren, Pa. George was an only child that quickly adopted his wife's family as his own. Many family gatherings were shared with Joseph and Pasqualina Nardelle Nardelli, John and Palma Licari, Minnie Fedele, Antoinette and Peter DiNegro and Roccina and Robert Delaney, Auriella and Ted Filipski.
