Obituary of Kathryn Throneberry
Kathryn M. Throneberry, age 51, of 516 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, beloved wife of Jim Throneberry, passed away on Friday afternoon, August 22, 2003. She was born in Fort Gordon, Georgia on October 15, 1951 a daughter of Mary E. (Sinqfield) Hodges who resides in Santa Clara, CA and the late Robert B. Hodges. She received a doctorate degree from Berkeley University, California. She was united in marriage with James A. "Jim" Throneberry in Nevada on May 25, 1973. The family moved to Maryland in 1978. It is here where she began her teaching profession, which she truly enjoyed, with the Prince George?s County Board of Education as a special education teacher. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Little Falls Rotary Club and was a Girl Scout Leader at one time. Kathryn was a woman of generous heart and a deep sense of social responsibility. These qualities led her to a career in special education where she could use her many abilities to touch the lives of those young people who are so very much in need of teaching, but who are so hard to teach. In spite of the obstacles and difficulties she encountered in this most demanding of educational fields, problems which are inherent in the vocation itself, Kathryn contributed her talents selflessly throughout her career, successfully taking on the roles of mentor, teacher and counselor for so many of her students. At the same time, she was also an inspiration to her colleagues. During her professional life, the challenges she faced were great, but her dedication, her efforts and her achievements were even greater. She was a woman and an educator who truly made a difference within her school and in her community. Survivors include her beloved husband Jim of Little Falls,her mother, Mary of Santa Clara, CA., a son Wesley "Wes" Throneberry of Baltimore, MD., a daughter Genny Throneberry of Herkimer, a brother Robert Hodges and wife Tanya of Santa Clara, CA, a sister Eileen Hodges of San Jose, CA, one aunt, three nephews, several cousins, father and mother in law, Fred and Nellie Throneberry of Oxnard, CA, and six brothers in law. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Monday, August 25, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. There will be no funeral service. Kathryn will be laid to rest in California at the family?s convenience.
