Obituary of Josephine Averson

Mrs. Josephine Averson, age 92, of 876 East St., Cassville, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Friday morning, October 18, 2002, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. Josephine was born on July 6, 1910, in Jefferson City, Alabama, a daughter of the late Ralph (Placanica) and Mary (Gimigliano) Blasting and received her education in Herkimer schools. She was a longtime Herkimer and Frankfort resident. She was united in marriage to Louis Averson in March of 1928 in Herkimer. Mr. Averson passed away in May of 2001. She spent many years taking care of her home and family and was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. Survivors include a beloved daughter, Jean Aiello of Cassville; a sister, Arvella Paestello; sisters-in-law, Betty Barrett, Mary Caiola and husband Anthony, Adeline Polizzi and husband Nick and Bea Yacovella; brothers-in-law, Ted Averson and wife Marie and Richard Averson and wife Celia; six grandchildren, Kathleen Brimley and husband Robert, Judy Dotero and husband Richard, Donald Aiello, Joseph Aiello and wife Billie, Louis Aiello and wife Denise and Gina Aiello and fianc? Mark Christiano; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald L. Aiello, who passed away on March 30, 2002. There will be no public visitation. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday morning, October 21, 2002, at 10 a.m. from the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph, South Main Street, Herkimer, with the Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Averson will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Josephine's name may be made to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for those wishing to do so. The Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion (894-8000), is serving the family.
