Obituary of Michael Lamanna

Mr. Michael L. Lamanna, 76, of 3 Wilshire Drive, Albany, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Little Falls, son of the late Peter and Catherine (Morotti) Lamanna and attended Little Falls schools. He went on to attend SUNY Albany, where he received a bachelor's degree and then a master's in education and a PHD in political science. He had been a resident of Albany for the past 50 years. Mike was a World War II veteran having served with the United States Army. He was married to Angela Renzulli on April 13, 1958 in Little Falls, at St. Joseph's Church. Mike taught at Van Hornesville school at one time and at Greenwich school. He also taught at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy and lastly at the Milne School of SUNY Albany. When the Milne School closed, he joined the education department of SUNY Albany where he was involved with teacher education, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Potter's Club at SUNY Albany and a member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society in Albany. He is survived by his wife Angela; his son, Peter Lamanna and wife Jeanina of Albany; two daughters, Kathryn Lento and husband Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio and Michelle Barriere and husband James of Albany; grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Stephen, Alexandra, James, William and Julianna; three sisters, Mena Lamanna, Elsie Clark and husband Pat and Frances Fitzgerald and husband Charles of Little Falls; a sister-in-law, Louise Donato of Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Alfred, Frank and Tony Renzulli. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at 8:15 a.m., at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls and at 9 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Charles Celeste, officiating. Interment in the spring will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, Dec. 29, from 1-5 p.m. Those wishing may consider donations to the American Cancer Society.
