Obituary of Bertram Rice

Mr. Bertram L. "Bert" Rice, age 80, of 6377 State Rt. 167, Dolgeville, husband of Mary Rice, passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 3, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital. Mr. Rice was born on July 27, 1922 in Little Falls, a son of the late Bertram and Marguerite (Kane) Rice and received his education in Little Falls city schools. He had resided in Little Falls for many years until moving to Dolgeville with his wife. The couple was united in marriage on April 28, 1951, a loving and caring relationship of 51 years. Mr. Rice served his country with the United States Army, 355th Infantry. He enlisted on Sept. 28, 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 12, 1946, holding the rank of private first class. He was last employed with the former H.P. Snyder Manufacturing Company and was an avid sports fan. He attended Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of the home address; a stepdaughter, Elaine March of Little Falls; and five step-grandchildren. Also surviving are three nieces, nine nephews, and two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Rice of St. Johnsville and Celia Rice of Mohawk. He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Tuesday (today) from 5-8 p.m. Mr. Rice's funeral will commence at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning Nov. 6, from the chapel of the funeral home where Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ, of Holy Family Parish will offer prayer. Cremation will follow the funeral service and interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Falls Hospital Development Fund.
