Obituary of Etro Vallese

Mr. Etro A. Vallese, 81, of 274 N. Main St., Herkimer, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at St. Luke's Home in New Hartford. He was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Herkimer, son of the late Carlo and Rubina (Fiorucci) Vallese and was educated in Herkimer schools. He served his country with the United States Army and received an honorable discharge upon relief from active duty. He was also involved with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Etro had worked with the maintenance department with the village of Herkimer for several years. He attended the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph and was a life member of the Herkimer VFW, along with being a member of the Herkimer Elks and the Ilion Moose Lodge. He is survived by his son, Carl Vallese, and his wife Karen of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Ezio Vallese of Herkimer; and Savario Vallese and wife Sonia of Utica; and two grandchildren, Austin and Cameron Vallese of Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to a graveside service that will be held Thursday morning, Oct. 31, at 10 at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, with the Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor of Saints Anthony and Joseph's Church, officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army. Arrangements are being handled by the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home of Herkimer.
