Obituary of Paul Walach

Mr. Paul Walach Sr., age 91, of 14 Buchanan St., Ilion, formerly of Little Falls and the town of Fairfield, passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital. Mr. Walach was born on Sept. 24, 1911 in Little Falls, a son of the late Stephen and Maria (Biesek) Valach and received his education in Fairfield and Little Falls schools. He had resided in Ilion since 1976. He married Susan Zguris on Dec. 20, 1950 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Walach passed away in 1978. Mr. Walach was last employed as sexton of Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls, and was previously owner and operator of the family farm on Fairfield Road, Little Falls. He was also very fond of his employment with the town of Fairfield as a snowplow driver during his earlier years. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Survivors include a son, Paul Walach of Vernon; two stepsons, Stephen Kovac of Virgin Islands and John Kovac of Ilion; a daughter, Mildred Walach of Ilion; two stepdaughters, Ann Pargansky of Ilion and Betty Bugaj of Little Falls; two sisters, Wilma Dancik of Cape Cod and Mary Walach of Cape Cod. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Gagnon of California. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 4-7 p.m. at Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. The funeral will commence on Monday morning at 10:30 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered at 11 from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Gansevoort St., Little Falls, with the Rev. Carl Evans, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery where Mr. Walach will be laid to rest.
