Obituary of Stanley Wiernicki
Mr. Stanley Wiernicki, age 83 , of Bullion Rd., Mohawk, husband of Rose Wiernicki, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 31, 2002 at the Veteran?s Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on November 5, 1919 in Little Falls, a son of the late Henry and Maria (Florek) Wiernicki and received his education in Little Falls schools. He has been a Mohawk resident since 1936. He was united in marriage with the former Rose E. Jones on November 24, 1962, at the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church with the Rev. Roman P. Jasinski officiating, a loving union of 40 years. Mr. Wiernicki proudly served his country as a United States Marine from February 25, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945 as Private, First Class. He was last employed as Quality Control Supervisor for UNIVAC in Utica retiring after 21 years of dedicated service.He was employed at one time by Remington Arms, Ilion, ICL of Utica, and Chicago Pneumatic. Stanley also held employment with Prine Cleaners in Ilion and Rudy?s Menswear in Herkimer. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church, Little Falls. Stanley?s faith was very important to him and he was very dedicated to the church where he served as treasurer at one time. He also served on the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery Committee. He belonged to the Marine Corps League, Ilion. Stanley enjoyed chatting with friends and neighbors. One of his favorite pastimes was gardening for which he had a magic touch. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife Rose, of the home address, a daughter, Sandra Burback of Westmoreland, two step children, James Robert Cookinham and wife Jackie of Utica and Larry John Cookinham and wife Judy of Ilion, five brothers, Mitchell Wiernicki and wife Mary of Herkimer, Vincent Wiernicki and wife Olga of Bluff City, Tenn., Zygmunt Wiernicki and wife Frances of Marcy, William Wiernicki of Ilion, and Witold Wiernicki and wife Ellen of Mohawk, a sister, Sophie Henzel of Birmingham, Ala., three grandchildren, Jeffrey Volo and wife Carol, Jace Volo and wife Kelly, Garrett Burback, two great grandchildren, Taylor and Colin Volo, numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Wiernicki and a sister- in -law, Audrey Wiernicki. Friends and relatives are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort on Thursday, January 2, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. Stanley?s funeral will commence on Friday afternoon, January 3 at 1 p.m. from the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church, Gansevoort St., Little Falls, with the Rev. Marion Pociecha, officiating. Stanley will be laid to rest this spring in the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery at a time to be announced.
