Obituary of Wade Dingman

MOHAWK - Wade R. Dingman, Sr., age 71, of Shoemaker Hill Rd., Mohawk, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at home. He was born on June 30, 1938, in Cherry Valley, NY, the son of Louis and Pearl (Smith) Dingman, and attended E. Springfield School. On May 23, 1959, he was married to Marion Mason in Herkimer, NY. He was employed at Eastern Rock Products of Utica for over 30 years. Wade was a member of Local #35 Laborer’s Union, Utica, a CB operator, using the handle “Dingo”, loved animals, enjoyed hunting, and was a happy man. Survivors include his wife, Marion; three daughters, Mary Lou Dingman and Trevor Humphreys of Mohawk, Brenda Price and husband, Darrell, of Ilion, and RoseMarie Moore and husband, Bob, of Mohawk; two sons, Wade Dingman, Jr., and wife, Sheilah, and Randy Dingman, all of Mohawk; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Lawyer of St. Johnsville, Beverly Wagel of Roseboom, NY, and Susan Eastwood of West Winfield; two brothers, Sherwood Dingman of Fort Plain and Lyle Dingman of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Peggy Dingman, in 1993, and his son, Jeffrey Dingman. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Spring burial will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. prior to the Memorial Service. A special thanks from the family to the Bassett doctors in Herkimer and Hospice nurse Irene Kurtelawcz. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to National Brain Tumor Society, East Coast Office, 124 Watertown St., Suite 2D, Watertown, MA 02472. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Dingman family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to their Funeral Director Don Applegate at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home.
