LITTLE FALLS-Dr. Geoffrey H. Davis, 53, of 143 Overlook Lane, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, April 1, 2010 in his home following a valiant battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born on October 20, 1956 in Burlington, VT son of the late William Davis and Natalie (Howard) Davis of Poughkeepsie. Dr. Davis grew up in Poughkeepsie and graduated from Spackenkill High School with their first graduating class. He received his Under Grad and Master's Degree from Colgate University. He furthered his education receiving his Ph. D from the University of Albany. On August 25, 1979, he was united in marriage with Cindy Kosciuk in Poughkeepsie and recently celebrated 30 loving years. Dr. Davis was a man who was incomparably well matched to his life’s work and mission. Gifted with a dedicated work ethic, a kind heart, and a generous attitude, he trusted that each person has within themselves the means and the ability to live a life of honor, value, and service. His own character and personal value system made him an exemplary role model, mentor, advisor, and friend to the faculty and administration with whom he worked. Over the course of his professional life, Dr. Davis energized and influenced the dreams, hopes, and lives of countless numbers of people. Dr. Davis dedicated his life to education. He started his professional career at Waterville Central School as a science teacher. He came to Little Falls City School District in 1982 as Assistant Principal and went on to become Elementary and then High School Principal. In 1988 he became Superintendant of Little Falls City School District until 1996 when he was appointed District Superintendant of Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES where he was currently serving. Dr. Davis was passionate about serving his community. Among his various involvements were the Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield Utica Regional and Corporate Advisory Boards, Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Greater Little Falls Community Chest, Little Falls Civic Club, Little Falls Canal Days Celebration Committee, and Little Falls Community Outreach. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife, Cindy; three children: Justin Davis and wife Christina of Plano, Texas, Jeremy Davis of Addison, Texas and Alyssa Davis of Little Falls; a brother: Bradford Davis and Gary Masch of Kenwood, California; a sister: Leslie Weintraub and husband Michael of Sudbury, Massachusetts; four nieces and nephews: Gregory, Connor, Lauren and Ryan; and many devoted co-workers and friends. Dr. Davis was a loving husband and father. He was his children’s biggest fan and throughout his life was proud of all that they had accomplished athletically, academically and professionally. Among Dr. Davis’ life-long enjoyments were his love of drums and golf. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Holy Family Parish, Corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls. Relatives and friends are also invited to take part in his funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday evening also at Holy Family Parish. Final interment will take place privately. In lieu of floral offerings kindly consider memorial offerings to the Dr. Davis’ Memorial Scholarship Fund/Cindy Davis. The Davis family is extremely grateful to Dr. Mook, Reggie and Michele all of Bassett Healthcare, Herkimer for their professional care and personal concern. Also a special thank you is extended to Dr. Richard Carvajal and staff of Sloan Kettering Memorial Clinic, New York City for their kindness and compassion.
