Obituary of Ruth Crisman

ILION-Mrs. Ruth H. (Bolton) Crisman, 85, of E. North St., Ilion passed away on Thursday evening, April 8, 2010 in St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford with the support of her family by her side. She was born in Mohawk on December 8, 1924, daughter of the late Harvey and Gertrude (Schmiedecker) Bolton and educated in valley schools. She was married to William Bowman in 1944, he passed away in 1967. She was united in marriage with Douglas Crisman in 1976 who passed away in 1986. Mrs. Crisman was last employed as an executive secretary with MDS and worked for Lamont Geological Observatory at Columbia University as an executive secretary during the 1960’s. Mrs. Crisman enjoyed the CB radio throughout the 1970’s. In fact, she published a monthly article in the Country Editor under her handle, Hill Kitty. In her spare time she enjoyed drawing and writing. She was voracious reader. Survivors include her beloved family; three children: Thomas C. Bowman, Sr., and wife Barbara of Cedarville, Jan McGraw of Ilion and Daniel Bowman of Ilion and daughter-in-law Jeanne Bowman of Utica; her grandchildren: Tom Bowman and wife Chrissy, Todd Bowman and wife Toni, Travis Bowman and wife Sarah, Bill Bowman and wife Mandy, Dan Bowman and wife Beth, Matthew Bowman and wife Alison, Sarah Bowman, Brian Lasher, and Kathleen Winter and her partner, Brenda Chapman, and six great grandchildren. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will take place privately in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. The family is being cared for by the Enea Family Funeral Home, Daniel J. Enea, director.
