Obituary of F. Bruce

Ilion/Mohawk-Mrs. F. Pauline (Vineyard) Bruce, 78 formerly of Prindle Apts., and Mohawk passed away peacefully with her son, Michael at her side, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion. She was born on October 20, 1931 in Mohawk daughter of the late Opie and Frieda (Burger) Vineyard and graduated from Mohawk High School. Pauline was named after her mother and grandmother. As a little girl, her German grandmother Burger called her "quock a boc" (chatterbox) because she was always talking. On September 13, 1952 Pauline was united in marriage with Claude W. Bruce in Mohawk Reformed Church with the Rev. James Benes, officiating. The couple enjoyed a blessed union 47 years until Mr. Bruce’s passing on February 24, 2000. She held employment at one time with the former Duofold Factory, Mohawk. Pauline was a devoted member of Mohawk Reformed Church and also the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary and Violet Rebekah Lodge #198 serving at one time as Noble Grand. A loving wife, sister and mother, Pauline will be sadly missed by her family. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets, dolls and shoes. She also was an avid card player enjoying the game of bridge and enjoyed watching the Yankee's. She had so much love for all of her family and friends. Survivors include her beloved son, Michael A. Bruce of Mohawk; her siblings: Doris Bucek and husband Walter of Frankfort, Virginia Dunn of Plymouth, NH, and Jack Vineyard and Linda of Cooperstown; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nora Waterbury. The family will receive relatives and friends at Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000 on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 12-2 p.m. Her funeral service will commence on 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon at the funeral home with The Rev. Brian Engel, Pastor of Mohawk Reformed Church, officiating. Procession will follow to Mohawk Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Mohawk Reformed Church, Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary or to a charity of your choice; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the medical and support staff of the three facilities that Pauline stayed at: Little Falls Hospital, Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown and Mohawk Healthcare Center for their professional medical care and kindness and compassion. The family is being cared for by director, Daniel J. Enea. Members of the Mohawk American Legion Auxilliary will conduct at service at 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon at the funeral home. The Violet Rebekah Lodge #198 will conduct their service at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
