MOHAWK - Maurice “Moe” Wainwright, age 81, of State Rt. 5S, Mohawk, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on November 3, 1928, in Ilion, the son of Llewellyn and Marion (Buckley) Wainwright, and graduated from Mohawk High School in 1946. On April 30, 1949, he was married to Mary Ann McDonald in Mohawk. Moe was employed as a form tool grinder at Chicago Pneumatic Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Angelo Tarantino, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Chris and Roger Watkins, of Mohawk; six grandchildren, Derek Zeh and wife, Jen, Kristin Smith and husband, John, Adam Zeh and wife, Juliana, Kyle and Matt Watkins, and Nathan Wainwright; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Fran Wainwright, of Scotia, NY, and Bill and June Wainwright, of Mohawk; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, David, and his brother, Don. A Memorial Service will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. Calling hours are Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., prior to the funeral home service. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer Salvation Army or the Food Pantry. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Wainwright family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
