Mr. Carl A. Schrader 96 a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, and a former Dolgeville resident died Monday May 17, 2010 at the Masonic Home. Carl was born in Herkimer on February 25, 1914 the son of Carl and Helena (Peters) Schrader and was educated in Dolgeville Schools. His marriage to the late Florence Knapp took place on September 2, 1939 in Dolgeville. Mrs. Schrader predeceased him on January 6, 1999. Carl remarried the former Margaret Giesler on October 20, 2001 in the Lutheran Church in Dolgeville. She predeceased him on June 26, 2009. Carl was employed by the former Adirondack Bat Company of Dolgeville for 50 years retiring from there in 1979. During his employment there he served as a sawyer and the last 20 years he was a foreman for the company. He was a 65 year member of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge #796, and was an avid bowler for many years. He is survived by his son and his wife Dr. Larry C. and Katherine Schrader of Punta Gorda, FL., a Brother Clarence Schrader of Idaho his Granddaughters Patti and Kristina and his great grandchildren Sean, Ryan, Sarah, Ella and Jacob, also several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Arthur and his sisters Mildred Spofford, Elizabeth Haak and Helen Reitz. Memorial services will be held on Sunday May 23, 2010 at 1 PM at the United Lutheran – Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Karen Caspersen will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Town of Little Falls. Members of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge #796 will hold ritualistic services at the cemetery.
