Obituary of Gertrude Holdridge

ST. JOHNSVILLE- Gertrude Esther Holdridge, 87 of Oppenhiem, New York, passed away on May 25. 2010 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with her loving family by her side. She had been a resident since January 2010. She was born September 4, 1922 in Herkimer , the daughter of the late Earl and Reba (Fisher) Miller. On Feb. 20, 1940 she was united in marriage with Raymond W. Holdridge who passed away in 1992. Gert and Raymond were dairy farmers on Youkers Bush Road in Oppenheim where she lived until she entered the nursing home. She was a member of the Oppenheim Old Timers Club where she had many good friends. Mrs. Holdridge is survived by two daughters: Esther Capece and her husband Vic of St. Johnsville and Peg Pinkham and her husband Clint of Whitesboro; four grandchildren Raymond Rankins and his wife Liz of Saratoga Springs, Pamela Jouben of Mohawk, Butch Capece and his wife Glenna of St. Johnsville, and Nade Hart and her husband Rod of St. Johnsville; seven great grandchildren: Colin Hart and his friend Battina Krutz of St. Johnsville, Jason Rankins of Saratoga Springs, Rachel and Abigail Jouben of Mohawk, Amber Clark and friend Anthony Edwards of Leesville, LA, Jana Coons and her husband Kyle of Alexandria, VA and Tresa Krutz; her great great grandchildren :Lydia Emily Coons, Dustin Dwayne Edwards and Jacob Raymond Edwards. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Her nephew Kenneth Barrett, of Marietta, SC, who was like a son to her. She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Reba Miller, her son Raymond W. Holdridge, her great grandson Raymond D. Hart, her sisters Celia Torrence and Mary Barrett, her brothers Clark Miller and Burton Miller and her niece Gayle Barrett, wife of Kenneth Barrett. In keeping with Gertrude’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Interment will be at West St. Johnsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the loving and compassionate nurses and all the staff at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center who made her life pleasant and comfortable during her stay with them. The family is being cared for by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St. St. Johnsville.
