Obituary of Stella Ciano

Little Falls: Mrs. Stella Ciano, 83, of Loomis Street, Little Falls, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. Mrs. Ciano was born on October 21, 1926 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Kolkowski) Mazurski. She was educated in Little Falls and was a lifelong resident. On January 31, 1948, she married Rocco Ciano in St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls. Mr. Ciano passed away on September 6, 2007. Stella was last employed at the Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls. Prior to that, she worked at the Melrose Shoe Company, also in Little Falls. She was a member of Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church. Stella was a fantastic cook and was known for her delicious fish fries at the DeCarlo Staffo Post. She enjoyed bowling and card playing and spending time at camp. Stella is survived by her sons: Robert Ciano and his wife Sharon of Livermore,CA, Ronald Ciano and special companion Virginia (Nini) Murphy of Little Falls, and Richard Ciano and his wife Barbara, also of Little Falls; grandchildren: Rita and Keith Froebel, Korrena and Cliff Rhea, and Nicholas Ciano; great-grandchildren: Alexandria, Abby, Aiden, Alysa, Isabella, Amelia, and Samuel; a special niece: Leslie Albanese and her husband Brian and their children: Daniel, Victoria, and Chayce; and her feline companions: Mama and Baby Stinkey. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Her husband, Rocco, and a sister, Blanche Sagatis, predeceased her. There are no calling hours; however, relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery in the town of Herkimer on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 am.
