Obituary of Olivia Davi

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Olivia Bommarito Davi, 68, of Sanders St. passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Basset Hospital in Cooperstown after a brief illness. Olivia was born August 14, 1941 in Little Falls, NY, daughter of the late Bernardo and Teresa (Fontana) Bommarito. Olivia was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and moved to Houston, Texas to attend Lydia Houston Beauty and Cosmetology School where she became a licensed beautician. She was then employed at Mary’s Hair Fashions owned and operated by her Aunt Mary. Olivia relocated back to St. Johnsville in 1971, and owned and operated her own beauty salon. On November 28, 1974 Olivia married Salvatore “Sonny” Davi of Nelliston, NY and they resided in St. Johnsville. During their marriage they were both avid bowlers and enjoyed sharing the sport together. Olivia was a member of St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church and the Women’s Altar Rosary Society. She was an active member of the community and once belonged to the Chamber of Commerce. Olivia was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her son Vincent D. Joslin of St. Johnsville and her father-in-law Joseph J. Davi of Nelliston, NY. Survivors include her husband Salvatore V. Davi of St. Johnsville, daughter Tema Joslin and granddaughter Krystyna Noelle Petkovsek, daughter-in-law Renee Jacobellis Joslin and granddaughters Bethany & Gabriella Joslin; step-daughter Michele and her husband Ignacio Castro of Canajoharie, grandchildren Joshua Thomas of Palatine Bridge and Lacey Thomas of Johnstown; step-daughter Kimberly Young and granddaughter Emily Young of Wichita, Kansas; Aunt Mary (Fontana) Gudelman and husband John of Missouri City, Texas, Aunt Perina DiCamillo Moore of Largo, Florida, sister-in-law Betty Williams and husband Larry of Canajoharie, mother-in-law Agnes Davi of Nelliston, close cousins Larry and his wife Betty DiCamillo of Missouri City, Texas, Ron and his wife Sue DiCamillo of Rosenberg, Texas, her numerous other cousins and her lifelong friend Marcia Seeley. In keeping with Olivia’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A religious service will take place Friday July 23, 2010 at 11 A.M. at St. Johns Reformed Church on Main St. in St. Johnsville with the Rev. David A. Johnson officiating. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her mother and father. The family is being cared for by the Enea Family Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, NY. Olivia loved taking care of her four cats and one dog, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to CAP (Community Animal Program of Little Falls).
