Obituary of Stella Stefanishyn

Stella Stefanishyn, of Ilion, New York, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, on Thursday, August 26, 2010. She was 92. Stella will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and dear friend. Her compassion and generosity will be forever cherished. Her unwavering faith in God and her loyalty to the ones she loved will always be admired. Stella is survived by her beloved daughters, Regina Nicolette and her husband Salvatore Nicolette and Charlotte Laporte and her husband Frank Laporte. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren include, Lisa Lamica, Vanessa Rotenberg, Nicole Nicolette-Walz, Sean Nicolette, Zachary Lamica, Matthew Lamica, Connor Rotenberg, C.J. Walz, Samuel Walz, and Maddox Walz. A special thank you to Stella’s caregivers; Lisa Cox, Michele Ostrander, Violet Clark, Kay Balch, and Dana Clark. Your warmth and dedication is greatly appreciated. Also, a special thank you to John Darrow. Your help and compassion over the years and during this time will always be remembered. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 4-6 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Frankfort/Ilion, (894-8000). Stella’s funeral service will commence at 9:15 am on Monday, August 30, 2010 with a prayer service at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, celebrated by the Very Reverend Anthony Barratt in Annunciation Church, Ilion. Procession will follow to Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where she will be laid to rest. The house is more quiet now But your eternal presence is surely felt Although your chair is empty We all know you’re still there So for now, we kiss you and say goodnight For we know this is not goodbye It’s just the beginning of the second chapter of the book Dear Stella, you wrote a brilliant chapter one
