Obituary of Marie Murphy

LITTLE FALLS-Marie A. "Mary" (Gorinshek) Murphy, 86, formerly of State Route 5s, Mohawk (Town of German Flatts) passed away on Saturday morning, August 28, 2010 peacefully in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford after a long illness with the love of her family by her side. She was born on June 25, 1924, daughter of the late Mathew and Julia (Kvas) Gorinshek and educated in local schools. She was united in marriage to Francis Murphy who predeceased her in December of 1994. Mrs. Murphy considered her job and foremost priority taking care of her home. She was of the Catholic Faith. Mrs. Murphy is survived by her beloved family; her daughters: Michele Papaleo and husband James of Little Falls and Kathy Visconti also of Little Falls; her grandchildren: Jamie, Christopher and Michelle Papaleo and fiance Al Peruzzi, Tony Visconti and wife Diana, Bobby and Michelle Visconti, and John and Rebecca Visconti, William Scanlon, Frank Scanlon, and Caroline and Ron Schaffer, Kelley Gilbo and Kevin and wife Dawn Gilbo, Stacey Abdallah and husband Mike, Michael Murphy, William Murphy and wife Amy, and Mary Beth Murphy; a special daughter in law: Jackie Murphy; a brother in law and sister in law: Edward and Nancy Murphy; sisters in law: Anne Murphy and Shirley Murphy; sons in law: John Gilbo and Anthony Visconti; 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; daughters: Roberta Gilbo and Frances Scanlon; son: William Murphy; grandsons: Francis Gilbo and William Murphy, III, sister: Julia Buckley; brothers: Matthew, William and Louis Gorinshek and by a son in law: Bill Scanlon. The family would like to offer their gratitude to Dr. Emil Wassel and staff, the Bassett Healthcare Dialysis Unit of Herkimer and to the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for their tender love and care. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings to Holy Family Parish Memorial Fund; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Monday, (this evening), August 30, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. Mrs. Murphy's funeral will commence at 10:15 on Tuesday, August 31st from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Francis. The family is being served by funeral director Daniel J. Enea.
