Obituary of Elizabeth Benney

MANHEIM-Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Benney, 75 formerly of Randazzo Road, town of Manheim, most recently of the Mohawk Homestead and Folts Homes, passed away on Saturday evening, September 18, 2010 at the nursing home. She was born in Canastota on December 29, 1934 daughter of the late Glen H. and Priscilla I. (Brewster) Dingman and graduated from Sidney High School She received a bachelor of science degree from Oneonta State University where she attended teachers college. She furthered her education graduating from Syracuse University, Brigham Young University, Utah and then Luther Rice Community College Jacksonville, Fl. Elizabeth was joined in marriage with Charles Edward Benney on October 20, 1962 in Walton, NY. Mr. Benney passed away on July 3, 1981. She was last employed as a teacher with Utica Public Schools (Kernan School) and formerly employed with West Frankfort School and Vestal Central School. Mrs. Benney was a devoted member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls where she was a Eucharistic Minister, served on the church vestry and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the New York State Teachers Assoc., past matron of Mohawk and Little Falls OES and was a former member of Mohawk Valley Choral Society. Mrs. Benney loved cats and showing them at cat shows. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: a daughter: Donna Marrainne Benney LaFrance of Little Falls; two brothers: Edward Glenn Dingman of Vestal and Howard James Dingman and wife Carol Sue of Salt Spring, Florida; three grandchildren: Douglas Earl Armstrong, Marraine Lynne Armstrong and Mathew Joseph Esogwak Charles LaFrance; several nieces, nephews and relatives in Canada, Florida and the United States. She was preceded in death by her sister in law, Harriett Dingman. PLEASE OMIT FLORAL OFFERINGS and consider a contribution to Emmanuel Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice. Mrs. Benney’s funeral will commence at 11 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Albany St., Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, rector officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m., prior to the church service. Procession will follow to Greenlawn Cemetery, New Hartford where she will be laid to rest. The family is being cared for by funeral director Daniel J. Enea.
