Obituary of Dolores Joan Carney

LITTLE FALLS-Dolores Joan (Johnston) Carney, 72, of Shells Bush Rd., town of Little Falls, wife of the late Donald Carney, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, October 6, 2010 in Alpine Healthcare, Little Falls. Mrs. Carney was born on October 10, 1937 in Watervliet, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Gartner) Johnston. She was a lifelong Little Falls resident, and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. After graduation, she was employed as a switchboard operator. Dolores married Donald Carney, Sr. in Little Falls, who passed away in January of 1994. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening. Dolores leaves behind her beloved family: daughters, Kathleen Alvarez and her husband Drew of Oviedo, FL, Mary Petkovsek and her husband James of Garland,Texas, and Sharon Carney of Greenwich, NY; sons, Donald Carney, Jr. and his wife Diedre of Little Falls, Michael Carney and wife Sharon of Canton, Georgia, and Robert Carney of Little Falls; grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Shayn, Travis, David, Ryan, Patricia, and Amber; a brother, Tom Johnston and his wife Janet of Little Falls; aunts, Mary, Mimi, and Lucy Gartner; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elizabeth and James Carney predeceased her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her memorial service commencing at 10:30 am Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls with the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor of Holy Family Parish, officiating. A memorial-calling hour will be held, also at the funeral home, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, prior to the service. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where inurnment will take place. Funeral director, Daniel J. Enea, is caring for the family.
