Obituary of Angelina Salvagni

HERKIMER-Mrs. Angelina “Angie” (Lovecchio) Salvagni, 95 of Miller Avenue, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, November 3, 2010 in Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion. Angie was born in Bari, Italy on September 8, 1915, daughter of the late Frank and Philomena (Armanda) Lovecchio and educated in Herkimer schools. On November 1, 1930, she was united in marriage with Roggero Salvagni at St. Anthony’s Church, Herkimer with whom she enjoyed a blessed and loving union of 63 years. Mr. Salvagni passed away on April 17, 1994. She was last employed with the former Bertelle Dress Factory, Herkimer and was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. The central focus of Angie’s life was her family. As a woman devoted to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she generously and selflessly provided her loved ones with unassuming and attentive dedication, willingly committing herself to their needs, their interests and their happiness. She herself was never happier than when she was in the company of her loved ones. Survivors include her beloved family; a son in law: Stanley Witkowski of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren: Donna LeClair Smith and husband David along with their children: Jaclyn, Jason and Joseph in North Carolina; Patricia LeClair Schug and husband Donald, Jr., and their children: Donald, III, Daniel, and Mary Kate of Whitesboro; she also leaves grandchildren: Betty Jane, Mary, Jamie, Roger, III, Alan, Tammy and Tim along with other great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister, Theresa Marchese of Herkimer and a brother, Michael Lovecchio of Ilion. She was preceded in death by a infant son, Anthony; daughter: Rita Witkowski; a son: Roger Salvagni, Jr.; a sister: Concetta Strokoski; and by a granddaughter, Robin Lee. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 from 4-7p.m. Mrs. Salvagni’s funeral will commence at 8:45 on Monday, Nov. 8th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 9:30 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest, with her beloved husband. Kindly consider memorial offerings in her name to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer or a charity of your choice. The family offers its heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion for their concern and compassion and caring for Angie.
