Mount Vision: Mr. Ernest H. Ward, Jr., age 41, of Mount Vision, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 12, 2010 in Unadilla, NY as a result of a logging accident. He was born on April 3, 1969 in Herkimer, a son of Ernest H. Ward, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Sterling) Ward Hotaling. He attended Richfield Springs Central School. He was married to Lisa (MacBlain) Baker on October 27, 1988 in the town of Columbia. Ernest and Lisa, at one time, owned E & L Meats on Route 28 in Richfield Springs. He was currently a subcontractor with Sande Lower Logging of Oneonta. He was of the Methodist faith, and personally enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. Ernie also loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his father, Ernest H. Ward, Sr. of Utica; three sons, John Baker and wife Jolene of Waterville, Zachary Baker and special friend Marie of West Winfield, and Ernest H. Ward III of Oneonta; one daughter, Elizabeth Eckler; two grandchildren, Emily and Elija Baker; one sister, Cathy “Kit” LaFountain and husband Paul of Cedarville; step-brothers, George & Jim Hotaling; his grandmother, Margaret Ward of Canastota; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In respect of Ernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no public calling hours. A private interment service will take place at North Columbia Cemetery at a time convenient to the family in the summer of 2011. Ernie’s wishes were granted that all arrangements be entrusted to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, Donald J. Applegate and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
