ILION - Eleanor “Grandma Micki” D. Barney, 79, of Prindle Apts., Ilion, formerly of W. River St., Ilion, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on December 15, 1930, in Ilion, the daughter of Ray and Lula (Harris) Donohue and attended Ilion schools. “Micki” was employed at Sperry Rand Univac for eighteen years, MDS for fourteen years, and retired from Valley Health Services as a Nurse’s Aide in 1994. She was an active Volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program at Remington School. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Linda and William Fike Sr., of Herkimer; special granddaughter Jenifer Bowman and husband Daniel, of New Hartford; grandchildren William Fike Jr., of Riverview, FL. and Kevin Fike and his wife Randi, of Ilion; special great-grandson, Jared Bowman; great-grandchildren, Bret Bowman, Amanda Bowman and Julianne, Avery and Wyatt Fike; a special friend, who was like a daughter, Diana Geno; close friends, Kathy Marmet, Jean Smith, Sharon Putnam, Margaret Haggerty and Maggie Wesolowski; her special cat, Sara; her brother, Ray Donohue; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours are Sunday, November 28, 2010, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the Valley Health Services Staff for their excellent care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, or St. Jude’s Hospital.
