HERKIMER-Mr. Michael Ciupka, 89 of East Steele Street, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, in St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica following a brief illness. He was born in Ukraine on August 16, 1921, and lived in Germany before coming to Herkimer in 1949. In 1946, he was united in marriage with Maria Dzwonyk in Germany who passed away in March of 1984. Michael was last employed with Mohawk Data Sciences and was of Ukrainian Catholic Faith. Survivors include his beloved family; six daughters and their families: Helen Kilstrom and husband George of Phoenix, AZ, and their children: Nadine and Scott (husband) and Eric and Sara (wife); Irene Donley and husband John of Westmoreland and their children: Kirk and Rebecca Caiola (wife) and Kristina and Kent; Olga Nicholson and husband Mike of Falls Church, VA, and Nathaniel and Hannah; Margaret Savino and husband Gary Weirich of Mt. Holly, NJ, and their children: Tara, David and Daniel; Marion Whiteford and husband Dennis of Bennington, VT, and their children: Ryan and Grace (wife) and Megan; and Luba Supino and husband Vincent of Mt. Holly, NJ, and their children: Jordan and David; also surviving are nine great- grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Ciupka’s funeral will commence at 11 am on Friday, December 3, 2010, from the chapel of the funeral home with Father Kostyk, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest with his wife. The family offers their deepest gratitude to the ICU unit at St. E’s and to the nurses of the comfort care unit for their tender love and care offered.
