Obituary of Scott Carter

Scott Michael Carter 41 of 46 West Main Street Mohawk, died unexpectedly Monday December 6, 2010 at Little Falls hospital. Scott was born on July 10, 1969 in Herkimer, New York the son of Dorann “Debbie” (Burton) Spofford of Salisbury Center and was a graduate of Dolgeville Central School, class of 1987. Scott was a veteran of the United State Army serving honorably from March 1988 until he was discharged in March 1990 at the rank of PFC. He served with Company C 6th BN 502nd Infantry Regiment in Berlin, Germany. He was awarded the following service ribbons: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Army of Occupation Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge for Pistol, 45 cal. Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle M16 and the Marksmanship Badge for Grenade. Upon returning home Scott was employed by area Construction Companies, in Syracuse, Boston and Troy, New York. His last employment was with Environmental Remediation services in Rotterdam, New York as a crusher Supervisor. Scotts’ personal interests were in his family, the outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing with his son Chantz, NASCAR and motorcycle riding. He was learning to play the guitar and loved to sing along while playing it. He is survived by his Mother Dorann “Debbie” Spofford of Salisbury Center, his son Chantz Carter of Mohawk, a Daughter Samantha Carter of Salisbury Center, a granddaughter Brooke, his Brother Donald Carter of Salisbury Center, his sisters and their husbands Colleen & Chad Riesel of Herkimer, Michelle & Joseph Putney of Newport, his Nieces & Nephews, Janessa, Ryan, Kyle, Kaitlynne, Tara, a Special cousin Michael Manchester of AZ, his Companion Keely Smith with whom he lived, his closest friends Scott Jaquay of Little Falls, Dave Ferguson and Abe Hirsh both of Dolgeville and PJ Wagner of Ohio. He was predeceased by his nephews Joshua Scott Carter on 9/7/2008 and Justin S. Doxstader on 9/27/2009. Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 11, 2010 from 10 AM until Noon at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Military Honors will be accorded at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment will take place in Curtis Corners Cemetery, Town of Salisbury at the convenience of the family.
