FORT PLAIN/ ST. JOHNSVILLE- Attorney James W. Conboy, 87, passed away on December 7, 2010 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on October 19, 1923, in Utica, son of the late James W. and Ruth S. (Stell) Conboy. After serving 4 years in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Mr. Conboy was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hamilton College and then graduated from Cornell Law School. On October 11, 1952 he was united in marriage with Joan Savarese at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. The couple recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Jim was a practicing attorney in St. Johnsville for 55 years until his retirement in 2007. Known as “Gentleman Jim”, he will be remembered for serving his clients with dignity, compassion and integrity. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the 1970s. He is survived by his wife Joan; his sons James E. Conboy “Jed” and his wife Kelly Strack of St. Johnsville, David A. Conboy of Albany, Dana S. Conboy of Pittsford, VT; his daughter Tracy A. Conboy of Collegeville, PA and his grandchildren Madeline Conboy, Rachel Conboy and Dylan Conboy. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey J. Conboy. Memorial visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2010 from 4-7pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville. Burial will take place in the spring of 2011 at St. Johnsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to SAVAC or Little Falls Hospital. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
