ILION - Katherine “Mom” (Berberick) Staffin, age 76, of Litchfield, formerly of Western, PA, and the Mohawk Valley, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born on August 9, 1934, in the Town of Middlefield, NY, the daughter of Cecil and Edith (Snyder) Goodspeed. In 1977, she was married to Walter Staffin at Arnold Lake, NY. He died in 2000. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor which she passed on to her children. Survivors include her children, Frank Berberick and his wife, Cindy, of Herkimer, Linda Small and her husband, Bob, with whom she resided in Litchfield, John Berberick and his wife, Debra, Rick Berberick and his wife, Holly, of Pennsylvania, Michael Berberick, of Florida, and Vicky Pander, of W. Schuyler; 16 grandchildren, including her cherished grandson, Scot Raymond; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Roger Bell, of McDonough, NY; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Cecil Goodspeed, of Cedarville, Gerald and Georgia Goodspeed, of Cooperstown, and Robert Goodspeed, of Edmond, OK; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Marion Grabowski and Cheryl Rupert. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Katherine’s contemporary memorial service on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 6 p.m. at Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Funeral Director Don Applegate officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the funeral home service. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Cedarville Fire Department. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Berberick-Staffin family has requested that all arrangements be entrusted to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
