Obituary of John Marines

LITTLE FALLS-EAST HERKIMER-Mr. John Audycki, 86 formerly of Salisbury Street, Little Falls, entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, January 1, 2011 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was born on December 14, 1924, son of the late John S. and Victoria (Fietkiewcz) Audycki and graduated from Herkimer High School. He furthered his education attending Clarkson University and lived the greater part of his life in the Little Falls and Herkimer areas. In June of 1950 he was united in marriage with Gladys Skrzek at Sacred Heart Church, Little Falls. She predeceased him on May 1, 1998. A proud U.S. Veteran he served his country honorably during World War II with the United States Marines enlisting on January 19, 1943 and was honorably discharged holding the rank of Sergeant. He was last employed with General Electric, Utica as manager of Tool Services and was the initial planner to set up this operation at GE and retired after 34 years of dedicated service. He was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Mr. Audycki was active in the community and proud of his military affiliation with the Little Falls VFW Post. He was also a founding member of the Little Falls chapter of the AARP, was a driving instructor for 55 alive and a member of the Depression ERA Boys of Herkimer. Mr. Audycki was happiest when working in his garden, enjoyed raising his tomato plants and took great pride in natural treasures. He also loved the outdoors and being at camp. He was a history buff and enjoyed the Polish heritage, especially the foods. Mr. Audycki was a kind and caring man who loved being with his family. Survivors include his beloved family; his son, John M. Audycki and wife Mary of E. Herkimer and a daughter: Patricia Audycki of Utica; his grandson: Matthew Audycki; three step grandchildren: Stephen, Jackie, and Brianna; sister in law: Barbara Audycki of Governeur; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bobbie” Audycki who passed away in 1999. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. His funeral will commence at 9am on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ and at 9:30 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls where the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest and military honors will be offered by the U.S. Marine Corps. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Ilion Marine Corps., envelopes may be obtained at the funeral parlor. The family expresses sincere thanks to the entire staff at Folts Homes, Herkimer for their kindness and compassion shown to Mr. Audycki. The members of the Little Falls VFW Post will conduct their service at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Enea Family Funeral Home. Arrangements are with funeral director, Daniel J. Enea.
