ILION-SCHUYLER – Gloria Theresa (Boucher) Murdock, age 82, of Ilion, formerly of Schuyler, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford, NY, with her family at her side. Gloria was predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, Richard D. Murdock, Sr., on January 27, 2011. She was born on December 16, 1928, in Springfield, MA, the daughter of Wallace and Emma Boucher. Gloria graduated from high school in Springfield, MA. She retired from H. M. Quackenbush, Herkimer, NY, after several years of service. Gloria was a long time member of the East Schuyler United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Organization. Foremost, she was a cherished mom and friend to her children and extended family of nieces and nephews. Gloria enjoyed her trips to the casino, gardening, crafts and baking, well-known for her homemade apple pie. Gloria is survived by her devoted children, Richard, Jr., and wife, Peggy, Judith and husband, William Whitford, Sally Murdock, Theresa Voorhees and Russell Collins, JoAnn and husband, Joseph Petkovsek, Mary Kanady, Martha and husband, James Caliguire, Robert, Sr., and wife, Sherry; thirty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and special cousin and friend, Bridget Murdock. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Arthur, Leon, Eugene and Ted Boucher; sisters, Antoinette (Tante) Simchak, Vivian Wezniak and Mary Stamper; sons-in-law, Donald Oldfield, Sr. and Ronald Lindsay, Sr.; and two great-grandchildren, Brianna Tarkowski and Grayson Kanady. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Lyle Robison, Pastor of the E. Schuyler United Methodist Church, officiating. Calling hours are Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., prior to the funeral home service. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the E. Schuyler United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Murdock family has requested that all funeral and burial arrangements be entrusted to their family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
