NEW HARTFORD-Mr. Salvatore S. “Sal” Spatola, age 66, of 245 Oxford Road, New Hartford passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica with the love and support of his family by his side. He was born in Newport on October 30, 1944 son of the late Salvatore and Katherine (Hilts) Spatola and educated in New Jersey schools. He came to the Mohawk Valley in 1965. On August 5, 1966 Sal was united in marriage with Olivia Rende in Newport, NY; a devoted union of 44 years. Mr. Spatola was last employed with Revere Copper/Brass as a machinist. He was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include his loving family; his wife, Olivia of New Hartford; three children: Patrick Spatola and wife Jacqueline of Charleston, SC, Peter Spatola of Utica and Michael Spatola of Syracuse; also surviving are his siblings and other family members. He was predeceased by his daughter, Irene Holmes. In respecting the wishes of Salvatore, there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. The Spatola family offers their deepest gratitude to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially mentioning the doctors, nurses and staff at the Intensive Care Unit.
