HERKIMER-Mrs. Victoria (Kinney) Surace, age 96 of Moore Avenue, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 2011 in the comfort of her home. She was born on July 27, 1914 in Reggio, Calabria, Italy, daughter of the late Simone and Angelina (Minutti) Kinney and educated in local schools. In 1933, she was joined in marriage with Jamaine “Jimmy” Surace at St. Anthony Church, Herkimer enjoying a loving and devoted union of nearly 60 years until Mr. Surace’s passing in 1992. Victoria was last employed with Big Bill’s Restaurant, Herkimer and for many years was employed with Derby Sportswear as a supervisor. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Surace will be remembered as a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put the needs of her loved ones before her own. She spent much of her time knitting, crocheting and gardening. Family and friends enjoyed her excellent cooking and baking skills. Survivors include her devoted family; two sons: George Surace and wife Rosemarie of Camillus and Samuel “Sam” Surace and wife Maryellen of Herkimer; two sisters: Mary Natarelli of Little Falls and Jenny Fasolilli of Herkimer; a daughter in law: Carol Surace of Camillus; several cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and in- laws. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James “Butch" Surace; a brother and two sisters. The Surace family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Spring interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.
