Obituary of Sophia M Sweet
LITTLE FALLS-Mrs. Sophia M. (Miosek) Sweet, age 90 of Erie Canal Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 13, 2011 in Auburn Memorial Hospital with the love and support of her family by her side.
She was born in Little Falls on October 23, 1920, daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Shmro) Miosek and educated in Little Falls schools. On February 26, 1938, she was united in marriage with William Sweet in St. Marys Church, Little Falls. Mr. Sweet passed away in 1966. Sophia retired in 1982 from Allegro Shoe Corporation, Little Falls after 26 years of dedicated service. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls.
Survivors include her beloved family; a son: David Sweet and wife Ann of Fayetteville; four daughters: Joann Smith and husband Ed of Little Falls, Virginia VanSchaick and husband Wilbur of Fort Plain, Rosalie Mason of Mississippi, and Diane Kalet and companion Glendon Edgar, Jr. of Auburn; twenty two cherished grandchildren; twenty nine cherished great grandchildren and two adored great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins including, Florence Rohacek of Little Falls; a daughter in law, Anne Rachon-Sweet of Rochester and a sister in law: Jane Miosek of Little Falls. She was preceded in death by a son, William Sweet; a daughter in law, Barbara Congdon-Sweet; two great grandsons, Shawn Sisson and Luke VanSchaick; two brothers, Frank and Max Miosek; two sisters, Mary Coppernol and Rose Schneider and by two sons in law, Gene and Dave.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Tuesday (today), March 15, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Sweets funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Wednesday, March 16 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Mrs. Sweet will be laid to rest later in the spring in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
