Obituary of Philip Nash

Salisbury Center: Mr. Philip Nash, 83, of State Route 29A, Salisbury Center, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Little Falls Hospital. Mr. Nash was born on August 2, 1928 in Salem, MA, the son of the late Clinton and Lora (Campbell) Nash. After Clinton's death, he was raised by his mother Lora and father, Lowell Walker. He attended school in Westborough, MA and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, Class of 1952. He was member of the Airborne Army Rangers and fought in Italy during World War II. As a result of being wounded, Mr. Nash was awarded the Purple Heart. On October 25, 1952, Philip married Elaine Bombard in Westborough, MA, and together they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. Philip was a dairy farmer and had farmed in the St. Johnsville and Dolgeville areas for over 40 years. He was past president of the Dolgeville Producers Co-op and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Westborough, MA Lodge. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed raising vegetables in his garden. Mr. Nash is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; sons, Jeffrey Nash and his wife Nantiya of Udon, Thailand, Steven and his wife Elba Nash of Little Falls, Brian and his wife Nardina Nash of Corcoran, MN; a daughter, JoAnn and her husband Oren Martin of Brownington, VT; and grandchildren, Heather, Kristen, Julie, Melanie, Benjamin, Adam, and Philip. He also leaves a brother, Kenneth and his wife Merrie Walker of Westborough, MA; sisters, Barbara and her husband Burt Wilson of Standish, ME, Sarah Bennett of Woodstock, VT, and a sister-in-law, Roberta Walker of Westborough, MA; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special aunt, Marion Wyllie of Warren, ME. He was predeceased by his parents, Lora and Lowell, a brother, Robert Walker, and a brother-in-law, Richard Bennett. Services are private and burial will take place in Maine at the convenience of the family.
