Obituary of Michael H Mosher

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Michael H. Mosher, age 68, of 601 Murphy Road, Little Falls, Town of Manheim, beloved husband of Alice (Silvernail) Mosher, passed away on Thursday evening, March 8, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on February 11, 1944, in Little Falls, the son of Burton and Jessie (Quinn) Mosher. He attended Little Falls Schools. On August 6, 1966, he was married to Alice Silvernail in St. Joseph's Church, Dolgeville, and they shared a loving marriage for over forty-five years. He was a self-taught butcher and meat cutter for over forty-five years, and was still working at it at the time of his passing, cutting livestock. He had cut deer for hunters for over thirty years. He was proud to be the only cutter in Herkimer Co. belonging to the Hunters Helping Hungry for over sixteen years. Michael started as a 4-H member showing dairy cows from age fourteen to twenty-one years. He then got married and had a family and started back in 4-H as a leader, with his oldest son, showing cattle. All his children and grandchildren followed in his footsteps, which made him so proud. He and his wife have been leaders and volunteers in 4-H for over twenty-five years. Michael worked for Little Falls DPW for thirty-two years, and was the caretaker for Church St. Cemetery for twenty-eight years. He was also caretaker at Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills for two years. His greatest pride was being on the Livestock Committee of the Farmer's Museum Jr. Livestock Show, which he loved so very much. Michael was also on the committee of the Central NY Farm Progress Show. He and his wife were involved in the Herkimer Co. Fair for over forty years and showed cattle there with his children, where he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years. Michael and his wife were members of the Jordanville Federated Church and served on the council for several years, and as a trustee. His devotion to his church brought him great comfort and he loved all of his church family. Michael is survived by his wife, Alice; his six children of whom he was very proud, Ernest Mosher and his wife, Dawn, Anita Snell and husband, Dean, Monica Aney and husband, Donald, Brian Mosher and wife, Melissa, Michelle Cummings and husband, Patrick, and Joan Miller and husband, Timothy; seventeen grandchildren, Frank, Meghan, Elizabeth and Dawn Mosher, Derrick and Dillon Snell, Marie, Kimberly, Kathleen and Marguerite Aney, Scott and Austin Mosher, Sarah Rose and Alyssa Cummings, and Ashley, Timothy and Samantha Miller. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls (823-2424). Michael's funeral will commence at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Hocking officiating. Burial will then take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
