Obituary of Thomas F Hellenack

HERKIMER - Mr. Thomas F. Hellenack, age 78, of 221 Marion Street, Herkimer, passed away on Friday morning, March 9, 2012 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. He was born on April 20, 1933 in Herkimer, son of the late Roy J. & Gertrude C. (Bennett) Hellenack. He attended St. Francis de Sales School in Herkimer, and later went on to Graduate with Herkimer High School, Class of 1951. He was a Graduate Cum Laude of Utica College, Class of 1955. Thomas received his Master's Degree in Political Science at Columbia University. He was actually working on his doctorate upon being drafted into the United States Army. He enlisted in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He lived and worked in New York City along with having worked in Puerto Rico, Buenos Aires, and his last job as a computer analyst was in Montreal, Canada. His last place of employment was with the Singer Company located in St. Jean, Canada. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Tom spent the later part of his life residing with his sister, Mary Jean in Herkimer. He is survived by his beloved family including his sister: Mary Jean Hellenack of Herkimer; a brother Leslie J. Hellenack and his wife Bonnie of Watertown, MA; two nephews: Scott Hellenack and his wife Linda of Raleigh, NC; and Mark Hellenack and his special friend Zoe Liston of Hawkins, MN; and a great niece Alyson of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew: Brian T. Hellenack. In respect of the wishes of Thomas, cremation has taken place under the care, concern, and guidance of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer (866-1011). A committal service will be held in the spring at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer in the family plot. A very special thanks is extended to Zhanna Terasanko and her family for their friendship. The nurses and aids at Valley Health Services One West were wonderful along with the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.
