Obituary of Rosalie Derkay

Mrs. Rosalie Derkay, 74 of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012, in the St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. Rosalie was born on August 31, 1937 in Frankfort, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Elizabeth Guarniere Marchese and was a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler High School. On November 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Harry Derkay in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Derkay passed away in August of 1998. For many years, Rosalie was the purchasing clerk for Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls. Upon her retirement, she went to work at the CAPS in Little Falls where she enjoyed all the nice people she was able to meet. In her early years, Rosalie owned and operated Rosalie Ceramics throughout the Mohawk Valley. Rosalie was a communicant of Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. She had a love for, and greatly enjoyed teaching ceramics. Rosalie's greatest devotion was her family and she was always took great pleasure in cooking and baking wonderful meals. She also took care of many sick elderly people who needed someone. Rosalie took great pride and joy in providing the comfort and care they deserved aside from spending time with her siblings and raising her family. It was one of her most fulfilling things she did. She had a good heart. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lizabeth and John Healey of Little Falls; her sons and daughter-in-laws, Harry and Rose Mary Derkay of Ocala, FL and Brian and Rhonda Derkay of Hillsville, VA; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence Quatrino of Little Falls. Josephine and Walter Ostasz of Little Falls and Elizabeth and Jere Donovan of Piedmont, SC; her brother and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Nadine Marchese of Little Falls; her aunt, Rose Guarniere of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Jonna Marie Healey, Kara and Kristian Derkay and Jordan Oliver'Poche, Brian and Christina Derkay and Courtney Derkay; her great grandchildren, Morgan and Kaylee Derkay; several nieces and nephews. Rosalie was predeceased by her brother, Frank Marchese and her sisters, Mary Stefiank and Jennie Dowhaniak. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Rosalie's funeral will commence on Thursday, March 15, 2012 with prayers offered at 10:45am at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass, celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless at 11:30am at Holy Family Parish Church. Spring internment will be made at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
