MOHAWK - Mary Ann (Fikes) Ward, age 64, of 17 North Otsego Street, Mohawk, passed away on Tuesday morning March 27, 2012 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. She was born on October 23, 1947 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Clifford Charles and Katherine Elizabeth (Cramer) Ward. She was a graduate of Owen D. Young Central School, Class of 1965 and later went on to attend SUNY New Paltz, having graduated in 1969. She had been a lifelong resident of our area. Mary Ann had worked with the Herkimer Area Resource Center as a Service Coordinator for 22 years, retiring in July of 2011. Mary Ann received wonderful care from the Physical Therapy Department at the Heritage Healthcare Center in Utica. The family is appreciative toward their concern. Mary Ann was a devoted and loving grandmother, mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed. She was an active member of the Herkimer Reformed Church and greatly loved her church family. Mary Ann is survived by her beloved family, including her daughter Rachael Fikes - Maxson and her husband Charles of Ilion and her grandson Liam; a brother Edward Ward and his wife Kathy of Sackett's Harbor, NY; nieces and nephews: David & Debbie Ward, Patrick & Kristen Ward, and Todd & Kerry Ward. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Marykatherine Maxson on August 5, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 30th, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Herkimer Reformed Church, Main Street Herkimer with the Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will take place later this spring at Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (Main Street Between Ilion & Frankfort) on Thursday March 29th from 2- 4 & 7-9 PM.
