Obituary of Joann Vivacqua

FRANKFORT: Joann C. (Riscica) Vivacqua, age 63, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at home with the love and support of her family. Joann was born on October 12, 1948 in Ilion, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Giambrone) Riscica, Sr. She was educated in Frankfort School and graduated with an Associate's Degree from The Utica School of Commerce and The Police Academy at MVCC. Joann was last employed as a manager for Clifford Fuel, Utica and worked on the Police Force for the Village of Frankfort at one time, being the first female police officer in the area. Joann enjoyed gardening, camping, crocheting and was an avid woodworker. She also spent many hours volunteering and being a sponsor to the Alcoholics Anonymous Organization and was just shy of completing her 24th year. She was a member of the St. Francis Auxiliary and a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church. Joann is survived by her beloved family, a son, Francis R. Vivacqua II; her daughters, Maria Vivacqua and husband Robert and Michele Vivacqua and fiancé Matthew Grabski; her brothers, Michael Riscica and companion Regina Winkler and Joseph Riscica, Jr. and wife Teresa; her cherished grandchildren, Abigayle and Charlie Vivacqua and Raymond, Jr. and Michaela Mellor; her aunts, Catherine Giambrone and Josephine and Hale Chauvin, many special nieces and nephews, including Joe, Michael, Nicole, Dean, Joey, Jimmy and Dina and several cousins. She also leaves her friend and the father of her children, Frank Vivacqua, Sr., his wife Debbie and their daughters, Kimberly, Lori, and Becki; special friends, Joanne Courto, Charlotte, Penny and the Thursday Night Coffee Crew. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., especially Cheryl, Jill and Jan for their care, compassion and kindness offered to Joann during her illness. In Lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Friends and relatives are respectively invited to attend Joann's funeral service on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street, Frankfort where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Anthony Barratt, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort at the convenience of the family. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
