Bridgewater: Betty J. Schaffer, 47, of State Route 20, Bridgewater, passed away unexpectedly in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Betty was born on March 28, 1965 in Cooperstown, a daughter of Rouland and Thora (Robinson) Schaffer, Sr. She was educated in Whitesboro Schools and was a lifelong area resident. She was of the Catholic faith. Betty was a Home Health Aid. Betty is survived by her mother, Thora, of West Winfield; her fiancee, Peter Brown; sons, Eric Switzer, Donald Switzer, Michael Putman, and Joseph Putman; daughters, Jessica Brown and Melissa Brown; brothers, Rouland "Roly" Schaffer, Jr., Randy "Hoover Schaffer, Sr. and family; sisters, Kristal Speziale and her husband Michael, Pam Owens, Ruth Bienkowski, Deanna Schaeffer; half-sisters, Bonnie Fuller and Deborah Schaffer; her half-brothers, Russell Schaffer, Bobby Robinson, and Ricky Robinson and all of their families; ten grandchildren; her aunts Jean Wehrle and Karen Lamb; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves her feline companion, "420." She was predeceased by her father, Rouland, and a half brother, Michael Schaffer. Betty loved to "party with family and friends" and play dice with her fiancée. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 5-7 pm at Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion/Frankfort (894-8000). A memorial service will be conducted by Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo of Holy Family Parish at the end of the calling hours at 7pm.
