Obituary of Edward W. Treen

Edward W. Treen, Jr., 83, of Utica and formerly of Frankfort, passed away peacefully, Monday April 9, 2012 at Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion. Ed was born December 24, 1928, in Rome, the son of the Edward W. and Ruth Loomis Treen, Sr.. He was united in marriage to the former Lorraine J. LaFontaine on May 4, 1946 in Ilion. Mrs. Treen passed away on January 10, 2007. He was employed by Union Fork and Hoe, Frankfort. In Ed's earlier years, he owned and operated Treen's Used Autos and Treen's Texaco, both located in Frankfort and then T and T Body Shop in Florida. He was a member of the Moose and Kiwanis Clubs and president of the Diamond service for Union Fork and Hoe. Ed was also an avid bowler. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Constance Reel of Herkimer, Lorraine Carpenter of Frankfort, Deborah Yeagle of Frankfort and Stephanie and John Wheelock of FL; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Sam Pileggi, Elizabeth and Gordon Hight, and Helen and Jerry Licari, all of Frankfort, Cora Mauro of Long Island and Genevieve and Arthur Dunckel of Ilion; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Treen of Fl, Charlie Treen of Clayville, Henry and Eileen Treen of Boonville, Richard and Marie Treen of Mohawk and Larry Treen of AZ; his special sister-in-law, Georgett Conroy; his several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was predeceased by his son, Edward W. Treen III and his siblings, Virginia Treen, Beulah Johnson, Edna Prosser, John Treen and Jane Treen. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Applegate, Day and Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, on Friday, April 13, 2012, 5-8PM. Ed's Funeral will commence on Saturday, April 14, 2012, 12 PM, from the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where he will be laid to rest next to his wife. The family would like to thank the entire staffs of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, Slocum Dickson Medical and a very heartfelt thank you to the Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center for all of their loving and compassionate care.
