Obituary of William J. Burke

Little Falls: Mr. William J. Burke, 85, of Inghams Mills Road, Little Falls (town of Manheim), passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. Mr. Burke was born on January 26, 1927 in Little Falls, a son of the late Francis and Susan (Calster) Burke. He was a graduate of Little Falls Schools. On July 23, 1966, he and Betty J. Donovan were married in St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Burke passed away on September 8, 1989. Bill was a printer at the NYS Department of Mental Health in Utica. Before that employment, he worked at the Journal & Courier Print Shop in Little Falls and at T.C. Peters Print Shop in Utica. He was an avid bird watcher, and as such, was a member of the National Audubon Society. He also belonged to the Adirondack 46r's, Nature Conservatory, AARP, and Mohawk Valley Alpiners Hiking Club. He was a communicant of Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls. Bill is survived by his sister, Mary Maytan of Little Falls, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty; his parents, Francis and Susan; a sister, Helen Weinschreider; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Maytan. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 9-10:30 am at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls. His funeral will commence with prayer at the funeral home at the conclusion of the calling hours, followed by his Funeral Mass, celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless at 11 am in Holy Family Parish Church, East Main Street, Little Falls. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Betty, in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, immediately following the Mass.
