Obituary of Frank H Roe

HERKIMER: Frank H. Roe, Jr. age 87, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Folts Home, with the love and support of his family. Frank was born in Frankfort on October 9, 1924, the son of the late Frank H. and Mary (Kenyon) Roe, Sr. He was educated in Ilion Schools and on June 26, 1943 he was united in marriage to Stella Jane Dawidowicz in St. Joseph's Church of Herkimer, with whom he shared a loving marriage of 68 years before her passing on February 6, 2012. Frank entered the US Army on February 22, 1943. He was a part of the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations, serving in India, Burma and China and was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945. Frank was employed for 24 years at Remington Arms in Ilion and also worked for 14 years at UNIVAC. Frank enjoyed yard work, maintaining his home and yard in a pristine condition. He loved his cars and his predeceased canine companion poodle, Princess, who he idolized. Frank was a member of the Mohawk American Legion. Frank is survived by his beloved children: his son, Frank E. Roe and wife Deborah of Mohawk; his daughters, Lynda L. Brown of Rome, Donna Oliver and husband Mike of Kentucky; his grandchildren, Russell Brown, Jr., Kellyne Brown and husband Hugh Jarvis, Keith Martin, Frank Roe, Jr., Francis Roe, Daniel Davis, Brandi Davis, Jennifer Weisser and husband Fred and Kari Roe; 8 great grandchildren; his in-laws, Helen Balderston, Mary, Sue, Sharon, Loraine and Mickey Dawidowicz and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gary D. Roe, a brother, Bob Roe and a sister, Dorothy Krawczyk. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011. In lieu of floral arrangements, those wishing to express an act of kindness in the form of a memorial contribution may consider the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Mohawk American Legion members are asked to gather at the funeral home at 5:00 pm for services. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's funeral on Monday, April 16, 2012 beginning with prayer at 8:30 am at the funeral home and at 9:00 am at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, S. Main Street, Herkimer where his Funeral Mass will be offered by Rev. Thomas Lawless. Procession will then follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, where he and Stella, together, will be laid to rest. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
