Obituary of Gloria Laraway

St. Johnsville: Mrs. Gloria " Georgie" Laraway, 82, of Rockefeller Drive, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her loving family at her side. Georgie was born on September 4, 1929 in St. Johnsville, daughter of the late Gaetano "Guy" and Mary (Iacobucci) Corso. She graduated from St. Johnsville High School. She then went to work for her father at Corso's Dress Factory in St. Johnsville, where she remained until its closing. She then went on to work for Beechnut Baby Foods in Canajoharie until her retirement. Georgie and Jack Laraway shared over 62 years of marriage. They loved to travel together through the States and parts of Europe. They loved driving through the countryside and exploring the area for restaurants and places to shop along the way. They and their children camped for many years, the ocean being her favorite spot. But, she was also a homebody, and enjoyed taking care of her home and her family. She loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jack, a son, Dennis of St. Johnsville, a daughter, Dawn Kane, also of St. Johnsville, and the family pets, Molly and Mystique. Also surviving her are her nieces, Marilyn Alger and Carol Bollinger, her nephew, Peter Corso, and her many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dante, Dario and Guido Corso, and sisters-in-law, Marion, Sophie and Sue Corso. Gloria's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Fort Plain. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in Gloria's memory to the Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the church. The family is being cared for by John P. Lewandowski, Funeral Director, Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville.
