Obituary of Shirley A. Sitterly

MOHAWK - Shirley A. Sitterly, age 70, formerly of 45 Marshall Ave., Mohawk, died on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford. She was born on June 10, 1941, in Herkimer; the daughter of Lewis G. and Helen I. (Fullington) Sitterly, and was a graduate of Mohawk Central School in 1959. Shirley enjoyed following the Mohawk High School Band when her son, Jeff, was a member. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Sitterly and his wife, Karen, of Mohawk, and Andrew Davis, of Utica; three grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Kaitlin, Nathan and Kaylee; one great-grandson; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Lucille Sitterly, of Mohawk; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Lewis Sitterly; her mother and step-father, Helen and Charles Smith; and one granddaughter, Gianna Davis. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (old Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort), with Rev. Brian Engel, Pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral home service. A special thank you to all the staff at Sitrin Health Care Center who had taken such good care of Shirley. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Sitrin Health Care Center or the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Sitterly family has entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements and supervision to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
