Obituary of Dwayne Ricci

Dwayne D. Ricci, 60, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, Sunday May 6, 2012, with his loving family by his side. Dwayne was born on June 5, 1951, in Herkimer, the son of Anthony Ricci and the late Helen Hight Ricci. He was a graduate of Whitesboro Central School and Utica College, where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics. On June 17, 1972, Dwayne married the former, Bonnie Hyer in the Frankfort Methodist Church, Frankfort. Dwayne was the procurement manager for Homogeneous Metals, Clayville. Earlier in his career, he was employed with Remington Arms, Inc., Ilion. Dwayne was an devoted and active member of the Herkimer Lodge #1439 B.P.O.E., where he served as Lodge Secretary for the past 12 years, Past Exalted Ruler 1996-1997 in which during this time he was exalted ruler of the Elks National Ritual Championship Team, he also participated on several Central District and New York State Elks Ritual Championship Teams and served as Certified Word Accuracy and Ritualistic Judge. Continuing his dedicated in the Elks, Dwayne moved on and served as Past State Vice President 2003-2004 and Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler 2007-2008. For many years, he also was the chairman of the New York State Cerebral Palsy Softball Tournament, chairman of Herkimer's Annual Cerebral Palsy Softball Tournament, chairperson for Central District Americanism and Hoop Shoot Committee and gave many hours to his local lodge serving in many leadership roles, committees and volunteering. He loved playing softball, golfing, skiing, bowling and traveling especially to Disney which he was a fanatic about visiting there. Dwayne was a wonderful kind hearted generous man who through his dedication to helping his community affected many lives. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all of his friends that grew to love him throughout the years. Dwayne is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his sons and daughter-in-law, Derek Ricci of E. Herkimer and Jason and Kacey Ricci of Mohawk; his grandson, Tanner Ricci of Mohawk; his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Alan and Paula Ricci of Schuyler and Florida, Kevin and Cate Ricci of Schuyler, Daryl Ricci and Tami of Schuyler and Cameron and Jo-Anne Ricci of Deerfield; his sister, Beverly Floyd of New Hartford; his in-laws, Theresa Ricci, Glenn and Verna Hyer of Herkimer, Gary and Marie Hyer of Schuyler and Allen and Charlotte Hyer of Frankfort; his longtime childhood friend, Donald Kane of Schuyler; Several nieces and nephews including Brian "Sweet" Ricci with whom he had a special bond; also several aunts, uncles and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respect at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 2-7PM. His funeral will commence at 7PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Members of Herkimer Lodge #1439, B.P.O.E. and All other B.P.O.E. Lodges are ask to gather at the funeral home at 6 PM for the Elk's Memorial Ritual at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions, in Dwayne's memory, may be offered to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family is being served by Scott J. Pizer, Funeral Director of Enea Family Funeral Homes.
