LITTLE FALLS: Fred E. Burchell, age 60, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Little Falls Hospital. Fred was born in Little Falls on December 7, 1951, the son of Ruth Irene (Johnson) Burchell and the late Fred E. Burchell. During his childhood years, he and his family lived in West Monroe, Louisiana returning to the Stratford area where he was a graduate of Stratford Central School. On August 30, 1991, Fred was united in marriage to JoAnn Hart. Fred was a self-employed general contractor who took pride in his work. His building, electrical and plumbing knowledge were used to construct homes in the area. At one time, he worked as an apprentice at Mueller Cabinet Shop in Middleville. Fred was a skilled cabinet maker and a gifted woodworker. His family will treasure the furniture that he made especially for them. He enjoyed hunting and tending to his vegetable garden. As a teenager and into his young adult years, he took pleasure in helping his grandparents with their farm until their passing. Fred is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Little Falls; his mother Ruth Burchell Herringshaw and stepfather Harold Herringshaw of Little Falls; a daughter, Erin McCauliffe and husband Justin of Cossayuna, NY; a son, Eric Burchell and wife Summer of Dolgeville; his grandchildren, Lily and Colby McCauliffe and Jack Burchell; his sisters, Sharon Graff and husband Dick of Cedaredge, CO, Debbie Pugliese and husband Joe of Little Falls and Vickie Sherwood and husband Ed of Salisbury Center; his mother-in-law, Emma Hart, brother-in-laws, Robert Hart and wife Donna and Charles Hart and wife Karen; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Carrie Johnson and his father-in-law, Charles T. Hart. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with The Reverend Donald Dixon, officiating. Interment will take place privately at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
