ILION-MALONE - Helen E. LaMondie, age 91, formerly of London Towers, Ilion, and Malone, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 (Mother's Day) at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. She was born on May 21, 1920, in Malone, the daughter of Brayno and Margaret (Reome) Rousseau and attended Malone School. On August 13, 1940, she was married to Raymond LaMondie in St. John Bosco Church in Malone. He died on October 25, 2000. At one time, she was employed as a housekeeper at the Applegate Funeral Home. Helen also worked at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for nine years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and the N.Y.S. and Local Employees Retirement System. One of her special talents was being there for those who needed her and spending quality time with her loving children and grandchildren. She leaves two children, Margaret "Peggy" Leonis and her husband, Ronald, of Frankfort, and Karl LaMondie, of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Saundra Macidyn and her husband, Greg, of Syracuse, Ronald Leonis, of Whitesboro, Scott LaMondie and Lisa, of Mohawk, Todd LaMondie and his fiancée, Kate, of Rochester, David LaMondie and his wife, Laurie, of Deland, FL, and Lori Murphy and her husband, Daniel, of Rome, NY; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Linda LaMondie, of Rome, NY; a special niece, Sally Manno and her husband, Frank, of Ilion; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Rousseau; several other nieces, nephews and cousins; great-niece, Shawna; great-nephew, Frank Manno and wife, Barbara; and very special friends, Mark King, of Frankfort, and Gary Leonis, of Mohawk. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 2000; her son, David, in 1975; and two brothers, Richard Rousseau, who was killed in WW II, and Verden Rousseau, in 2005. Funeral services will be held 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (old Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort), with Deacon James Bower, of the Church of the Annunciation, officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., prior to the funeral home service. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. in St. John Bosco Cemetery, Constable Rd., Malone, NY. A special thank you to all the nurses and CNA's at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion, for the care and kindness given to our mother, Helen. The LaMondie family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to their family Funeral Director and friend, Don Applegate. You have left an emptiness in the hearts of all who loved you.
